Piggybacking Storms: Telluride Skiing Gets Better and Better

As I mentioned in a recent blog titled “Welcoming the Blizzard,” Telluride was bombarded with snow last week. Locals rejoiced, skied, snowboarded and shoveled. Winter had come, and everyone was grateful. We then got hit by another storm, and the new 13 inches of the last 48 hours are the cherry on top, the bonus fluff, the surprise party, the second helping. In the last seven days, the ski resort reports a total of 31 inches.

Most of the mountain is open, and the hill is in great shape. Telluride Ski Resort is hosting the Snowboard Parallel Giant Slalom World Cup Final on December 15. And from December 17 through 20, the international snowboarding competition with the Visa U.S. Snowboardcross World Cup will take place here.

Right now—any way you slice it—Telluride is all about skiing and snowboarding. Venture out to play in the deep winter of the San Juans.
