Meet Gus, Pet Puppies and Win Skis. What more could you ask for?
The winter Olympics held special importance for the Telluride community this past February. For those who were in Telluride during the International event, it was hard to miss the explosion of pride for local athlete Gus Kenworthy, who competed on the first-ever men's freestyle ski team, winning the silver medal in the free skiing.
Starting at 5:30 pm, Telluride welcomes home Kenworthy with a series of events that include a parade (5:30 pm, Telluride Main Street), special award ceremony (Telluride Main Street in front of the Court House), firework show (7:45ish on Main Street) and more (including a chance to win Gus's skis! See below!)
In honor of his accomplishment the Town of Mountain Village has announced they will be re-naming Gondola Plaza after Kenworthy during the event.
You've all asked, and we are happy to announce that Kenworthy's famous Sochi puppies will accompany him during the event. And, no, Miley will not be there. Sorry folks.
Come cheer on our hometown hero!
WIN GUS KENWORTHY'S SKIS!
There are 3 opportunities to enter for your chance to win: at Telluride Sports on Main Street all day on Friday, at the Free Ice Cream stand at Telluride Sports beginning at 5pm, or at the autograph table at the courthouse event at 6:30pm.
Gus will be drawing the winning ticket himself!
The drawing will take place at 7:30 Friday evening at the courthouse right before the fireworks show. Be sure to enter for your chance to win!
Limit one entry per person; no purchase necessary; must be present to win. Go Gus!
(Photo of skis are not the actual Atomic Punk skis to be won. Photo serves as an example of the type of skis that participants can enter for a chance to win.)
