Jam-packed August: Bike racing, art, music, mushrooms and a little Jewel

Jam-packed August: Bike racing, art, music, mushrooms and a little Jewel
Posted by EmilyC on 24 July 2012

The month of August in Telluride has historically been a slow month for activities. With the addition of the USA Pro Cycle Tour coming through town on August 20th, Telluride has attracted several events filling a normally low-key few weeks with festivals, events and musical acts.

Starting August 16-19th, two festivals, Telluride Festival of the Arts and the Telluride Mushroom Festival will take place. The Telluride Festival of the Arts offers participants a wonderful weekend of food, wine and arts in the town of Mountain Village. Buy your tickets here

During this same weekend the Telluride Mushroom Festival will take place in and around Telluride and Mountain Village. Between mushroom forays, slide presentations, lectures, performances (dance, poetry, music), discussion groups, panels hands-on growing workshops and more, this festival has something for every participant. Get your tickets here

The most recent addition to the Telluride August round-up will take place at the Sheridan Opera House on August 18th and 19th. Singer and songwriter Jewel will perform for two nights only at this historic venue. Get your tickets here.

The following weekend, August 25-26th, will feature the first ever Telluride rock festival, "The Ride" with acts such as The Lumineers, The Wood Brothers, Lucinda Williams, North Mississippi Allstars, JJ Grey and Mofro, Los Lobos and headliner Ben Harper (and, get this! The two-day festival is only $87.50! Buy your tickets here).
