High Altitude Haute Cuisine in Telluride

 Skiers and boarders work up quite the appetite on the slopes. Fortunately Telluride Ski Resort offers gourmet fare that rivals the views. The trend of hot-out-of-the–fryer meals served up in red-checkered paper boats has faded alongside the neon one-piece ski suit and discerning diners couldn’t be happier. Hungry skiers now have the option of resting their legs and fueling up for the next runs in style, thanks to the resorts ongoing enthusiasm for its high-altitude haute cuisine.  Three of the on-mountain restaurants capture the ambiance of skiing in Europe and dining in cozy chalets with stunning views.

Alpino Vino-Capturing the ambiance of a Swiss chalet in the Alps, Alpino Vino is perched at almost 12,000 feet off the Gold Hill Lift. Enjoy a European-style lunch with such favorites as the antipasto plate, panini sandwich or signature grilled cheese and tomato bisque. On a sunny day, sitting on the outdoor deck while sipping from the extensive wine lines is pure bliss. 

Bon Vivant-Enjoy outdoor dining with a decidedly French flair at the top of Lift 5. The views of Palmyra Peak are as spectacular as the cassoulet which could compete with any French bistro or belly up to the bar for fresh crepes, cappuccinos, specialty cocktails and bottle of wine.

Giuseppe’s Perched at the top of lift 9 above 11,000 feet, this is the perfect stop for diehard skiers needing a healthy pick me up before heading out for more. The restaurant is cozy and there is little space for lingering. That’s ok because the potato black bean sauté is so good that you won’t be able to put your fork down and will have eaten in no time flat.
