Hey Leaf Peepers: Peak Colors are Here

Peak Is Here

Mother Nature has given us a bonus gift this year-an extended gold season. Normally, the peak of fall colors hits at the end of September with most leaves fallen by the first week in October.

But not this year. The mountainsides are still ablaze in fall colors.  Peak color season is upon us right now. We are thrilled the leaves have stuck around this long.

The weather today is rainy and snowy up high so this winter storm could dramatically change things. By tomorrow, all the trails around Telluride might be a “yellow brick road,” glimmering brightly until a fresh layer of snow covers the gold,  signaling the start of winter.
