Giving thanks early for Snow

bikes

Whenever I get a text alert from the National Weather Service saying “The NWS has issued a Winter Storm Warning for your Telluride location,” I get nervous.  We all look forward to the abundance of snow predicted but sometimes these predictions fall short and our powder hungry appetites are left insatiated.  However, this was not the case with the text alert I received yesterday.

Textalert

It started to snow last night about midnight and when we woke this morning, the ski area was blanketed with 12 inches of snow. It is still snowing. Here are the snowy scenes from this morning.

Up to an additional 8 inches is expected to fall throughout the day and tonight. Thanksgiving is over a week away but we are giving thanks early for the abundance of snow (over three feet of snow from three consecutive storms in the past two weeks) that is going to make for a stellar opening day on Nov. 26 at the Telluride Ski Resort.
