Festivarians for mushrooms? You can be one, too.
So you know about the Telluride Bluegrass festival (really, who doesn't) and you know about Telluride Blues & Brews. You're pretty up-to-date on the Telluride Film Festival and the Telluride Wine Festival. Telluride Jazz Festival, Telluride Yoga Festival, Mountainfilm...all festivals that bring in a heafty crowd. With the amount of summer festivals running in the double digits, it can be easy to skim over some of the lesser-known festivals that the Box Canyon has to offer...like the Mushroom Festival.
No, it's not new. The Mushroom Festival (Telluride Shroomfest) will be celebrating its 31st year in existence August 18-21st and is run by long-time Telluride resident Art Goodtimes.
During Shroomfest fungophiles from around the world gather to participate in forays, lectures, dining identification and the mushroom parade in Telluride's mushroom-rich surroundings. Attendees pick, discuss and eat during an information-filled weekend.
