An Artful Good Time in Telluride

Architecutre

The creative energy and artistic spirit of Telluride will be on full display this weekend during  the always entertaining Ah Haa Art Auction and Art + Architecture Weekend

The weekend kicks off on Friday night with an old-school, Hollywood glam party for the 22nd Annual Ah Haa Art Auction, the biggest fundraiser of the year for the art school.  Attendees are encouraged to come decked as their favorite movie star and enjoy this festive, fun and theatrical live auction which starts at 7:30 p.m. Live auction items range from Film Fest passes, to one of a kind tabletop wine rack made with original Film Festival reels to the always popular art car--a mint condition 1988 Suzuki Samurai 4-wheel drive car covered in regional topographical maps.  The silent auction also includes a plethora of artistic finds including an original painting by Darryl Hannah as well goods and services generously provided by local restaurants and businesses. Tickets to the event are $25

Organized by Telluride Arts, the Third Annual Art & Architecture weekend, features self guided studio and home tours, food, wine and other libations and showcases the work of more than 50 artists (most of them local). At each venue, small teams comprised of an artist, chef, and an architect or designer, will wow attendees with a unforgettable experience.

Unique venues like the Telluride Transfer Warehouse, the shell of a historic building across from the Village Market, will be transformed intosomething totally unexpected: a French café experience with food provided by Megan Ossola of the Butcher and the Baker. The empty lot next to the Stronghouse Studios will be  dressed up to create an outdoor installation called the “Plastic Fantastic”. Attendees will also have the chance to peek inside design studios, galleries and historic homes like the Kortes Home built in 1897.
