In Anticipation of Winter
For some of us, winter is a year-round obsession. Local film genius and photographer Ben Knight takes his passion for winter seriously. Known for his soft-spoken style and attention to detail, the Telluride Winter 2009 short is Ben's brainchild. He wanted to capture the essence (some folks call it "soul") of winter sans commercialism. Ben's inside peak into the magical side of Telluride winters was shot and edited throughout the 08-09 ski season. Take a look for yourself. Winter is most definitely an emotion. This project was the result of a generous grant from the Colorado Tourism Office.
When Ben's not out cavorting deep in the San Juan Mountains with Telluride Ski Resort's ski patrol, he is enduring the whirlwind phenomenon that his independent film Red Gold has brought on since its premiere at the 2008 Mountainfilm in Telluride Festival. Red Gold tells the tale of two rivers in the Bristol Bay region of southwestern Alaska—the Kvichak and Nushagak. Home to the two most prolific sockeye salmon runs that remain in the world, this region is facing the threat of two mining companies interested in the large deposits of copper, gold and molybdenum. A masterpiece from the talented crew at Felt Soul Media, Red Gold has just begun its journey.
